  • For an elliptical machine at such an inexpensive price, the Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer gives you more than what you paid for. You’d expect something very entry-level, but its features can be comparable to some models that are more expensive.
  • Its 18-inch stride definitely provides a lot of room for workout variety for a majority of body types.
  • I like the fact that the Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer pedals mimic walking and running movements. It can get very uncomfortable when your foot position is so limited, and can cause more damage than good.
  • Contrary to other models that would compromise the quality of add-ons, the EX-59 does otherwise. The speakers as well as the fan are pretty good.

  • Wear and tear can get the best of any machine that is often used. However, one of the downsides to the Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer is that the front drive area can be prone to squeaking or making loud, cranking noises if not lubricated upon assembly, and regularly after that. You’d find yourself stocking up on WD-40’s or similar products, just to get rid of the squeaking.
  • There is some difficulty in assembling this machine. You’d have to take your time to make sure alignment is correct, otherwise, you’d have that noise that I was talking about earlier. Adding on to time invested in setting the EX-59 properly, is having to lubricate the moving parts properly to avoid the squeaking sounds.
  • Although I’m not expecting much from a relatively affordable machine, it could have added more resistance levels, or workout programs.
